Artist bio
Laura Gilmore grew up in SC where she studied painting at Newberry College. Graduating in 1993, Laura moved to Chicago where she became part of the vibrant Wicker Park Artist community.
Laura Glmore now resides in East Rogers park. Growing up in a very tight-knit religious environment, yet surrounded by the diversity of nature, the Creative Process provided a colorful scope that nurtured her perspective that Life is magical. As a working artist over the years, LG has reached a plateau as a representational painter and this past year, has been experimenting with a "non-judgemental" abstract painting style.
Laura is moving from the representational work into the next stage as a surrealist painter. A metaphorical storyteller, Laura is also a singer-songwriter and hopes to release her first digital EP this summer. Laura was also one of the founders of the Social Art Collaborative, Giant Letter, from 2012-2022, which you can find at giantletter.com.
